Overview

Moses dominates the story of liberation, law, wilderness testing, and covenant formation. He is remembered as the human leader through whom Israel passes from slavery into a people ordered around worship, commandment, memory, and promise.

His importance extends far beyond Exodus. Later biblical books keep returning to Moses when they want to talk about law, mediation, prophecy, faithfulness, rebellion, or the long relationship between God and Israel. Christian readers also meet him again in the Gospels, Acts, Paul, and Hebrews as a figure constantly reread through Christ.
