And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

When believers had confidence towards God, through the Spirit of adoption, and by faith in the great High Priest, they might ask what they would of their reconciled Father. They would receive it, if good for them.
